Joseph C. Camp, 80, a retired accountant from Naperville and formerly Hinsdale who spent 23 years with General Motors Corp., died Monday, June 12, in Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Mr. Camp, a decorated World War II Army veteran, joined the automobile manufacturer after his discharge from the Army, and he retired in 1974. “He was strictly a golf man,” said his wife, Lillian Camp. Born in Chicago and raised on the West Side, Mr. Camp returned to work after retirement, joining the Westmont school system as a maintenance man, where he put to use his woodworking skills. “He enjoyed the children as much as being able to work with his hands, fixing or making things,” his wife said. Mr. Camp is also survived by three daughters, Marianne Kroll, Catherine Putnam, and Betsy O’Brien; four sons, Paul, Mark, Dave and Alan; three sisters, Ella Martin, Ruby Esposito and Margaret Christy; four brothers, Anthony Campolattara and Auriel, Salvatore and Robert Camp; 17 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
