Louis E. Kloepper, 74, of Carpentersville, a retired switchboard installer, died of cancer Monday, June 12, in Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Born in Chicago, Mr. Kloepper waserved as a turret gunner in the Army Air Forces in World War II. After military service, Mr. Kloepper worked for 35 years at Illinois Bell Telephone Co. When he retired in 1985, Mr. Kloepper was a supervisor of switchboard and phone installation. A resident of Carpentersville for 44 years, he enjoyed woodworking and gardening, relatives said. “He never met a stranger,” said his daughter, Kim Gross. “He could talk to anybody.” Other survivors include his wife of 47 years, Carolyn; a son, Louis; a sister, Vivian Minke; and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in Fox Valley Baptist Church, 16N562 Vista Lane, East Dundee.
