The passing of Jeff MacNelly leaves a void in the hearts of the many thousands of us who followed his contributions to the Chicago Tribune. He was, in our estimation, America’s foremost political cartoonist. His artwork, insights and wit were peerless, as was his versatility in other areas, such as creating Shoe and illustrating Dave Barry’s columns.
