Howard B. Rollins, 73, of Campton Township near St. Charles, a sales and marketing consultant in the food industry, died Wednesday, June 14, at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood. Mr. Rollins was president of Rollins Associates Inc. in St. Charles, a business he operated for many years out of his home. He was a graduate of Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Fla., where he earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Later he went on to receive a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago. A very active alumnus of Florida Southern College, Mr. Rollins was a past president of the Alumni Association and had received the Order of Merit honor from the national office of his fraternity. “He had very fond memories of his college days and after he graduated wanted to give something back,” said June, his wife of almost 46 years. “He really enjoyed keeping in touch with old friends, and also working with the young people over the years. It was a way for him to remember the good times of the past, but also help shape the future of a school that gave him so much.” Mr. Rollins was also a Boy Scout leader with Troop 50 in Wasco during the 1970s. “He was a leader for both our boys, who were Scouts at the time,” said his wife. “It meant so much to him to spend the time with them, and was never more proud than when they went on to become Eagle Scouts.” Mr. Rollins served in the Army Air Forces during World War II. Other survivors include sons Bryan and Barry; a daughter, Sue; and a brother, Bernard. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, 5 N. 600 Hanson Road, Lily Lake.
