The way to improve the quality of education is to pay our schoolteachers more money. Too many qualified individuals are turned off from teaching due to the low salaries. It’s odd that our society accepts the exuberant salaries of professional athletes, politicians and lawyers and yet, the individuals who teach, instruct and watch over our children are paid so little.
It’s time we stop acting so surprised with poor overall test results and lackluster education compared to other countries. It’s time we respect the role of our teachers, and we better prepare our children for the real world.
