There is a dangerous hazard that the people of Illinois overlook, although it is an unnecessary distraction. This hazard forces tens of thousands of drivers every day to suddenly reduce speeds, merge, remove both hand and eyes from the road, and then again gain speeds while merging in traffic. The obstacle of which I speak is the many unnecessary toll plazas throughout the Chicagoland area and across the state.
I was recently in a small collision while digging for loose coins, which was of my own fault. But it makes me wonder how many other collisions or potential collisions occur per year on our roads simply because the state wishes to pass a collection plate around for our loose change every time its roads are used. Are they not our own roads?
As residents of this state we should be able to steer our politicians into removing these obstacles from our lives and therefore make our daily commutes quicker, safer and less congested.
