Consulting my Bible I find evidence that Jesus Himself would have approved of the recent Supreme Court ruling against organized prayer at public school functions (“Court bans prayer at school games, Student-led invocations unconstitutional, justices say,” Page 1, June 20).
In Matthew 6:5-6, Jesus said, “When you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray that they may be seen by men. When you pray, go into your room and close the door and pray to your Father in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”
The Bible itself says not to make a show of prayer. Good advice, I always thought.
