Monrad E. “Mag” Magnuson, 67, of Lisle, a group products specialist with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, died Sunday, June 25, in Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Mr. Magnuson had been with the insurance company for 16 years and worked out of the firm’s Oak Brook office. “He was a very good and kind man,” said his wife, Sally Magnuson. Born in Duluth, Minn., Mr. Magnuson was raised in St. Paul. He was a former longtime resident of Lombard, where he was active in Boy Scouts and coached Little League baseball at the Butterfield Park District, his wife said. “He loved golf and played as much as he could,” she said. Along with golf, Mr. Magnuson’s other sporting interest was fishing, a pastime he enjoyed at his Wisconsin summer home. Mr. Magnuson also served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post in Elmhurst. Other survivors include sons Mitchell and Jeffrey; a daughter, Nancy; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Knollcrest Funeral Home, 1500 S. Meyers Rd., Lombard.
