CRESTWOOD–I read your article “The Ticket Chase” (June 16) with great interest. I purchased my seats for the Brian Wilson show through the special pre-sale of June 1st (four days before they went on sale to the general public).
I called Ticketmaster at 11:55 a.m. and finally got through to a customer service representative approximately 10 minutes later. The puzzling part, however, is that the top-priced tickets of $99 were not available for me to purchase and the best seats I could order were in row G seats 302 & 304 for $75 each.
The seats that you and your staff purchased on June 5th were, in three of the four cases, “better” than the ones I had the opportunity to purchase. Now I realize that the seats during the pre-sale may have been specifically blocked-out, but where did all the best seats in rows AA to LL go? Your article states that 1 percent (or more) of tickets are held for sponsors, promotions, promoters and VIPs, but hundreds of tickets in the first 12 rows are unaccounted for and this seems to be an inordinately high amount.
I am not sure if this is a story that deserves a follow-up, but I am sure curious on where all the $99 seats in the first 12 rows went even though no one could have ordered them any earlier than we did.

`SURVIVOR’ FAN
CHICAGO–Just wanted to pass on the fact that we (myself and everyone in our office) enjoyed Steve Johnson’s write-up on the CBS show “Survivor” (June 7). Your article “Torchlight TV” was entertaining and we really thought giving the odds were fantastic.
We saved the first article (May 31), which profiles each of the contestants and we have pinned it up on our wall. As each week goes by, we X-out that week’s loser.
This show kind of makes contestants on “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire” look like wimps!

PLAYING THE NUMBERS
CHICAGO– Please make the Sagittarius horoscope over 5 all the time because my Dad won’t play Sorry with me because I beat him a lot of the time. He won’t play when he has a bad number. Sorry is one of the games that we play over summer break. I win a lot.

MISSING MACNELLY
ST. CHARLES–So sorry to hear of Jeff MacNelly’s passing. Will miss his editorial cartoons as well as “Shoe” in the comic section. To my mind it has been funnier than the latter day “Peanuts” (no disrespect to Charles Schulz intended). But I especially liked the character with the overburdened desk. Reminds me of myself.
Again, condolences on MacNelly’s no longer being with us.
