Ruth R. Pflug, 91, a homemaker whose greatest joy was the richness of her family life, died Tuesday, June 27, in her Bloomingdale home. Mrs. Pflug was born in the teacherage at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Proviso Township and was raised in Melrose Park. “She was the kind of woman who got down on the floor to play with the grandchildren,” said her daughter, Gloria Schrilla. “She will be remembered best for being a granny to everybody.” An avid reader, Mrs. Pflug also was a bowler in her younger years, participating in numerous tournaments, her daughter said. “For my mother, everything was family,” she said. Mrs. Pflug was a former member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 368 and was the sister of the late Fred Brust, founder of Brust Funeral Home. Mrs. Pflug is also survived by sons Fred Jr. and Bill; 16 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.
