Joseph M. Pace, 91 years, at rest July 2, 2000, beloved husband of the late Anna “Kitty” Pace. Hero guide and tutor to his family and friends. New York CLU for over 50 years as well as author, businessman and philanthropist. He was a vocal supporter of higher education and a devout Catholic. He was featured on the television special “Someone you should Know”, because of his active work and literary achievements at age 89. He was an avid outdoorsman and passed this passion onto the many young lives he influenced. Son of immigrant parents, Alfredo and Assunta Pace, he became active in Hull House in the 1920’s, and from there in the Chicago political scene in the 1930’s and ’40’s. He had no children of his own, but was father and best friend to the many Madda and Scolaro family nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. His passing leaves a hole in humanity that will be difficult to fill. Funeral Thursday 9 a.m. from Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main St., Downers Grove (1blk S. of Ogden), to St. Luke Roman Catholic Church, River Forest, for 10 a.m. Mass.
