One innocent person executed is one too many. But I would also like to see a national moratorium on premeditated murder, rape and arson. If I were to intentionally take the life of another human being, at that moment I would lose my right to live. Justice demands that the punishment should be equal to the crime; why, then, is the death penalty an inappropriate punishment for one who has knowingly caused the death of another?
