The District 304 school board amended its residency requirement policy to call for payment, on a per diem basis, for non-resident attendance at Geneva’s schools.

Non-resident attendance is limited to students whose families have signed a real estate contract to become residents during the school year.

The previous policy allowed for a 90-day window for students to come in as non-residents and pay no tuition charge if they became residents within 90 days. The new policy requires that all non-residents pay tuition based on the $6,400 per capita annual tuition cost for educating Geneva’s students.

Of the district’s 4,700 students, the policy will affect only five or six non-resident students, according to Michael Jacoby, assistant superintendent of finance.
