Kevin E. Kane, 49, of Wheeling, a ground crew chief for American Airlines, died of cancer Tuesday, July 18, in Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines. Born in Chicago, Mr. Kane graduated from Holy Cross High School in River Grove and began working for American Airlines at O’Hare International Airport in the early 1970s. He started as a fleet service clerk and worked his way up to crew chief, where he was responsible for loading and unloading the company’s airplanes. A resident of Wheeling for 28 years, Mr. Kane enjoyed fishing and working on home improvements. “He was one of those people everyone loved,” said his wife of 28 years, Cyndi. “He was the life of every party.” Other survivors include two daughters, Christine and Chelsea; a son, Kraig; his parents, Joseph and Margaret; four brothers, Joe, John, Tom and Jim; and a sister, Margie Johnson. Mass was said Friday in Arlington Heights.
