When my sister and I were children, well over 60 years ago, my mother frequently recited to us the following:
Tobacco is a dirty weed. I like it.
It satisfies no normal need. I like it.
It makes a chimney of your nose;
It makes a smokehouse of your clothes.
It makes you thin, it makes you lean,
It takes the hair right off your bean.
It’s the worst darn stuff I’ve ever seen.
I like it.
The recent $145 billion jury award to smokers seems to reward their bad behavior. Are the liquor and automobile companies next?
