Robert W. Lettow, 78, of Elgin, retired in 1984 as a supervisor for Commonwealth Edison in Chicago after 42 years of service. Mr. Lettow, a Chicago native, died Monday, July 31, in Vencor Hospital in Sycamore. Mr. Lettow served with the U.S. Army in a military police unit in Texas during World War II. “We had a very good marriage of 52 years,” said his wife, Jean. Other survivors include a son, Al; a daughter, Carol Bartels; a brother, William; and six grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. A service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
