My husband and I are lifelong Cubs fans and we found Andy MacPhail’s remarks in the Aug. 1 Tribune hare-brained, negative and truly stupid: “But the reality is we’re still six games under .500 and we’re further away from the wild-card spot than the division lead with many teams in between. So I think it would be a mistake to think we’re in a pennant race.”

The Cubs are in a wonderful hot streak, it’s only early August and the GM has already given up? If he truly feels that way he should probably resign or be fired. He should have more sense than to make such a remark publicly. An ear-splitting round of boos for Andy MacPhail.
