I was saddened by the comment of Art Spinella of CNW Marketing/Research in the article “Bridgestone/Firestone recalls 6.5 million tires” (Business, Aug. 10). In the article he says, “There’s a sense of concern because many SUVs are driven by the women with kids and were purchased because they were perceived as vehicles safer than mini-vans.”

Since when did my safety and welfare become less important than that of a woman or a child? Label me as lacking in chivalry if you must, but I am no more and no less worthy of concern because I happen to be a man.
