The highest final-day crowd in at least seven years helped the Indiana State Fair set an attendance record this year, a spokesman said Sunday.

Sunday’s total of 66,260 gave the state fair a total attendance this year of 754,410 over its 12-day run, better than the previous high of 748,204 set last year, spokesman Leland Franklin said.

“Yesterday kind of capped things off,” Franklin said.

Pleasant weather helped keep crowds high. It rained on just two days, the opening day and again last Thursday, Franklin said.

The biggest single-day crowd this year was 100,029 on the first Saturday, which typically is the best-attended day each year, Franklin said.
