Question: How are search engines and search directories different?
Answer: Search directories use actual living, breathing humans, who pick sites they feel are useful. They then organize them by category and subcategory (like in a card catalog). Search engines use software to cruise the Net, indexing info on Web sites. Search engines (like Google and Direct Hit) may be more comprehensive; search directories (like Yahoo! and Ask Jeeves) won’t turn up as much junk.
