Constructing a 49-story building on Lake Shore Drive is bad enough. But to construct such a building that would block the sun from a beach is unconscionable (“Beach neighbors fight for their place in the sun,” Metro, Aug. 21ok).
Ald. Burton Natarus was quoted as saying that the residents were acting as if they owned the public beach and that the benefits of cleaning up a lot that has been empty for at least 15 years far outweigh other concerns. Obviously Natarus does not realize that one does not go to the beach to soak up the shade.
