I was glad to see Ali Abunimah’s “If looks could kill, Living with a `terrorist profile’ just because you’re Arab” (Commentary, Aug. 29). I have lived and worked in the Middle East and been lectured innumerable times about what Arabs are like by both Israelis and Americans who have never had a civil conversation with Arabs, let alone developed honest relationships with them.
I am hoping that the American public will soon find it as unacceptable to make gross generalizations about Arabs as they do for any other group of non-European heritage.
