I have two comments about Michael K. Meyerhoff’s view that dads need to step up to the plate and be equal partners in raising their kids (“Making a pitch for dads to get involved” Family, Sept. 3).

First, since becoming a father nearly 14 years ago, I have also taken exception to the comment that a dad was “babysitting” his kids because mom was out for the evening.

Second, in my youth (and I must be a near-contemporary of Mr. Meyerhoff), “throws like a girl” was a compliment, based on some of the girls I knew.
