Sleuths and gumshoe wannabes can investigate the role of the detective during a workshop Tuesday night in Elgin.
Elgin Community College’s “Private Eye: A Career in Private Investigation” will cover requirements for a state license, education and background prerequisites and the job’s time commitment.
The class, scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. will be held in the college’s Student Resource Center, 1700 Spartan Drive. The fee is $29.
A more intensive course, “Private Investigation: A Practical Approach for the Layperson,” will focus on investigative and research techniques in covering domestic and financial dealings and tracing missing persons. The 12-week class will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays, from Sept. 19 through Dec. 5. The cost is $135.
