And they say Bob Knight has the big ego. Melissa Isaacson contends the “enlightened” way to protest Knight’s firing (Tribune, Sept. 12) is to write editorials. Coming from a columnist, that seems extremely self-centered, particularly in reference to the Indiana University students protesting Knight’s ouster.
I’m not an IU alum or a Bob Knight fan, but I do know that despite his bullying tactics and short fuse, IU and college basketball are diminished by Knight’s dismissal.
He ran a clean program, his athletes graduated and he won, accomplishing three things that any university or fan can appreciate.
