As an Indiana expatriate, I take offense at Melissa Isaacson’s tacit insult that Hoosiers should be ashamed of calling themselves Hoosiers (“Knight’s backers have yet to see the light,” Sports, Sept. 12). Indiana University students and Indiana residents have no reason to be ashamed of the label “Hoosier.” Coach Knight’s boorish and inexcusable behavior does not tarnish the proud achievements of his championship players or the scholastic reputation of their alma mater.
