The Fox River Grove Public Library made the move to the former First Chicago Bank building, 407 Lincoln Ave., on schedule and under budget.

The library board will hold a dedication and open house Saturday in the new Fox River Grove Memorial Library.

“This is a project we can be proud of,” library board president Karl Battstadt said Tuesday after the first board meeting in the new library.

Building renovations cost about $420,000 and the furniture cost less than $80,000. The final step will be to finish construction of the plaza by the front door to commemorate the seven Cary-Grove High School students killed when a Metra commuter train slammed into a school bus in the village in 1995.

Private donations paid for the plaza, to be dedicated Oct. 21. The board may consider displaying memorial quilts in the front stairway.
