Through Thursday, Colorado’s Todd Helton needed four walks to become the eighth major-leaguer to record 200 hits, 100 runs, 100 RBIs and 100 walks in a season. The feat has been accomplished 16 times. Lou Gehrig posted seven such seasons in his career and Stan Musial and Babe Ruth are the only other players who had more than one such year. Hack Wilson, Jimmie Foxx, Hank Greenberg and Bernie Williams are the others. The 16 times a player went 200-100-100-100 are:

RUNNING MAN

Houston’s Jeff Bagwell has perfected the art of scoring runs. The first baseman recently became only the third major-leaguer to score 287 runs or more over a two-year period. He scored 143 runs last year and has crossed the plate 147 times so far this season. Bagwell joins Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig (both of whom did it five times) as the only players to accomplish the feat. Bagwell would have to score another 45 runs this season to break Ruth’s record of 335. The five highest run totals in back-to-back seasons were:

Player Seasons Total

Ruth 1920-21 335

Ruth 1927-28 321

Gehrig 1930-31 306

Gehrig 1931-32 306

Gehrig 1936-37 305
