The Sept. 22 sports section told of Kerry Wood’s return to greatness and the Sammy Sosa signing efforts. What was missing, of course, was hard-hitting writing about the worst team in baseball, its management and ownership.
While Skip Bayless and Steve Rosenbloom hammer away at Sox, Bears and Blackhawks ownership, there is an eerie silence about Cubs ownership. Maybe if they were not the Chicago Tribune Cubs–can that fit on the jerseys?–these hard-hitting writers wouldn’t be throwing their soft lob questions when visiting Wrigley–or maybe they could at least look at the standings occasionally.
But possibly, mocking quips and acerbic phrases only come to mind when not discussing our own paychecks.
