I for one have been both mildly amused and terribly disappointed to see the loads of publicity heaped on Dan Galligani, a.k.a. the “Get-Up Guy,” by the Chicago sports media in recent weeks. And I am far from alone. The real Dan Galligani who has now achieved his 15 minutes of fame thanks to an overly toady sports media and a slick White Sox PR machine–the Sox flew the guy to Minnesota and gave him a clubhouse pass the weekend they clinched the division–is little more than a loudmouthed bag of wind who screams at fans at the top of his lungs in the style of the worst schoolyard bully.
For the Chicago sports media to have baptized such a crude and abusive character as the Sox’s unofficial head cheerleader shows us fans how things really have sunk on the South Side.
