Returning for another disappointing season are the Chicago McBears, led by their scrambling leader Cade McNothing. Four straight losses is probably the best way to let people know that football in Chicago is not to be taken seriously.

The McBears seem to enjoy floundering in confusion week after week. They must take for granted that Chicagoans will waste three hours of their weekend clinging to the false hope of a winning season. We in Chicago are being fed yet another Unhappy Meal, which always comes with super-sized portions of dropped passes, failed third-down conversions and embarrassing interceptions.

Mr. Crowton, are you still with us? What happened to your dazzling offensive brilliance? Are you watching the field on Sunday, or have you already started daydreaming about that cushy college job out west?

I thought the object was to win games. Maybe No. 8 should pour the Gatorade for a while. I doubt I’m the only one who thinks it’s Miller time. The McBears must not love to see us smile.
