The baton exchanges among the U.S. women in the 4×100 relay were so sloppy on every leg that Nanceen Perry and Torri Edwards had a conversation while they were trying to hand off between the second and third legs.
“I took off blind and Torri said, `Wait, wait,'” Perry said. “Then she said `wait’ again. I turned my head to see where she was, but what do you do then? You just run as fast as you can.”
