Anna Barbara Feit, nee Hoffmann, died on September 29, 2000 in Skokie. Mrs. Feit was a long time resident of Chicago’s Edgewater and Rogers Park neighborhoods and most recently, The Mather of Evanston, IL. She was 94. Over the course of thirty years, Anna was a nurse for Doctors James X. Bremner, Clyde J. Geiger, Gertrude Engbring, Donald Fahrenbach and John Durburg. She retired from nursing in 1976 and spent the next decade volunteering at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chicago. Mrs. Feit will be remembered for her strength of character, energy and wit. As a single parent, she raised and supported three sons after her husband’s untimely death in 1936 at the age of 36. She was the beloved and revered head of a large family that continues to honor her memory. Anna is survived by three sons, Charles (Marilyn) of Skokie, Thomas (Nancy) of Corona del Mar, CA, and Eugene (Barbara) of Austin, TX; a sister, Helen Hallbom of Park Ridge, twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Peter, her parents, Anton and Magdalena, and five siblings. Visitation Sunday 4-9 p.m. Funeral Monday 9:30 a.m. from Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Blvd. at Old Orchard Rd., Skokie to St. Mary Church, Lake St. and Oak Ave., Evanston, Mass 10 a.m. Interment St. Boniface Cemetery.
