Terra Museum is a celebration of American art. Its location on Michigan Avenue is deliberate and democratic. That it’s “shoehorned between a popcorn shop and a shoe store” speaks to its accessibility (“City may lose museum it hardly knew,” Metro, Sept. 24). It is a part of the everyday life of Chicago.
Terra should be appreciated for its outstanding permanent collection as well as the marvelous exhibits it has brought to our city.
There should be no question that Terra is an integral part of Chicago. It presently provides art education to approximately 20,000 students each year. Let everyone who knows about Terra speak out. American art is essential, and should be nourished and cherished here in this uniquely American city.
