It’s a real rush to announce the winners of this year’s vacation-snapshot contest. (Honestly – our heads are still spinning after sorting through all the awesome entries.) Readers took an issue of KidNews on their summer vacations, then held it up for a snapshot in some hot location. We printed some sweet snapshots during the summer. Today we’ll show off more – and announce our three favorites. The kids in those three pics win cameras!

More cool pic picks are straight ahead:

H2-oh!

– Byron C., 8, and Kayla C., 10, of Elmhurst enjoy a water ride in Elk Grove Village.

– Clare M., 9, takes a ferry ride to Vancouver, B.C.

– Members of the Round Lake Ducks swim team take a breather. From left are: Jessica B., 10; Alex A., 10; Denise G., 10; and Megan W., 10.

Elisabeth J., 9, of Des Plaines kicks back at Suzuki Camp at Blue Lake, Mich.

Cool company

– John-Franklin D., 13, of River Forest digs for fossils with Ranger Brett in Kemmerer, Wyo.

– Evan L., 14, and sister Hannah, 11, of Naperville stand tall with a Canadian Mountie.

– A herd of bison strolls past when Kay P., 10, and sister Danielle, 12, of Naperville visit Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota.

– Chris F., 8, makes a friend in a jiffy at the Popcorn Factory in Columbus, Ohio.

character witnesses

– Sarah K., 13, and sister Hannah, 7, of Westmont get Goofy at Disney World, Fla.

– A thin layer of scaffolding stands between Christian R., 11, of Chicago and a gargoyle at Notre Dame in Paris.

– Thomas M., 12, and brother Christopher, 9, stand bravely in front of the Hodag monster in Rhinelander, Wis. Legend has it that a Hodag was spotted in 1896 – and it sprang at the photographer just after its picture was snapped. Watch your backs, guys!

– We were charmed by this cute snapshot of Andrea L., 8, of Wheeling. She’s taking it easy at Camp Dainava in Manchester, Mich.

Top coats

– Tim D., 8, and Emi-y D., 10, of E-mhurst got their faces painted at the Montrea- Jazz Festiva-.

– Admiring Tom Sawyer’s fence in Hannibal, Mo., are Jessi M., 11; Kevin W., 8; and Annie W., 11.

Globe-trotters

– Kevin H., 9, stands before the Great Wall in Beijing, China.

– Bryan R., 9, of Gurnee at Chichen Itza in the Yucatan. The Mexican structure is 97 steps to the top.

– Chaya C. and Sholom C. are on their way to the Dead Sea, in the Middle East. (We like their chauffeur!)
