In his Sept. 17 column, Clarence Page discussed restricting the selling of adult-oriented music, movie tickets and video games to underage kids. Thousands of kids under 17 are buying unsuitable material containing a lot of violence. This is one of the problems that parents have.
For example, many kids are buying the music of Eminem. Although Eminem is really popular, many people do not like his violent music.
We agree with Mr. Page when he writes, “Having been tortured by Eminem’s X-rated, gay-bashing lyrics, it only made me wonder, how do little kids get hold of this stuff?” These unsuitable materials are getting in the minds of kids. By seeing certain movies or hearing this kind of music, kids get the wrong ideas about life. Kids might try to do what they see in the movies or say the bad words they hear. They could harm themselves and others. Something needs to be done to keep kids from buying these violent materials.
