Paul Young’s argument that the University of Notre Dame is overrated (Tribune, Oct. 1) could hold water if the likes of Florida State, Nebraska, half the Big Ten and the SEC did not play “North Podunk U.” for their first four games.

You either love Notre Dame or you hate them, so everybody gets up for them; therefore, the home-field advantage is negated. As for the Nebraska game, a pox on those fair-weather fans who sold their tickets to Nebraska fans.

Last year Notre Dame played six teams ranked in the Top 25 at year’s end, and they played in no bowl game. That has to compare with the toughest conference. This year has been no different.

And if you think there’s no anti-Notre Dame bias in the media, guess again. Read Bayless, Rosenbloom and the rest.
