The Harvard School District 50 board has asked the city to review the impact fees assessed by comparable towns in McHenry County and adjust its fees accordingly.
“I can tell you quite assuredly you are a good $1,800 under other municipalities,” said school board President Bill Crowe. He was unable to provide current countywide figures but said he would do so at the next meeting.
The city charges a $1,979 fee for all single-family homes, the same as assessed in unincorporated Harvard by the county.
“The amount of fee does have an actual effect on the quality of education,” said school board member Bill O’Malley.
Zoning Board members requested that District 50 representatives present a figure they think is fair and reasons supporting the increase at the next Zoning Board meeting.
