George “Cliff” Young, age 82 of Pasadena, CA, formerly of Lockport, IL, passed away October 8, 2000 in Arcadia, CA as a result of complications due to Alzheimer’s disease. Born July 24, 1918. in Gardner, IL to George A. Young and Genevieve Young, nee Skelton. Mr. Young was a decorated Veteran of WWII serving on the front line in Germany and France where he received the purple heart and other medals. Returning to civilian life, Mr. Young worked at the Texaco Refinery in Lockport for 27 years. Retiring in 1967 Mr. Young moved to Miami Beach, FL. An avid horse racing fan and accomplished athlete. Mr. Young is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Rachel; and his two sons, Steven and Gary of Hollywood, CA and Pasadena, CA respectfully. Through the gates of heaven has passed a most special man, a man of honor and integrity. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 12, 2000, 1 p.m. at the Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton St., Lockport. Interment Mount Vernon Memorial Estates. 815-838-1533.
