John “Wally” Fritz Walther, age 62, recently of Jacksonville, NC, formerly of Barstow, CA and raised in Chicago, IL, died from heart failure on Friday, Oct. 6, 2000 at his residence. He was employed with the California National Guard, Ft. Irwin, CA, where he worked as a Warehouseman until his retirement. Served in the U.S. Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1967. He is survived by his daughter Samantha Adkins and son-in-law S/Sgt. Rocky Adkins, USMC; his son L/Cpl. Michael Walther, USMC and daughterin-law Andrea Walther; grandchildren Eric and Sarah Adkins of Jacksonville, NC; also brothers James, Martin and Michael of the Chicago, IL area; and close friends Cliff and Barbara Walker and Joe and Gerri Burden of Barstow, CA; formerly married to Cecily Jeanne Bundy of Arlington, VA. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 13, 2000 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville, NC. Interment Coastal Carolina Veteran’s Cemetery, Jacksonville, NC.
