Clarence Marvin Wachter, 75, a retired assistant manager for Illinois Bell, where he worked for 37 years, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000 at his home in Longville, Minnesota. He was a training Lieutenant for the Lansing Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Lions Club in Lansing, IL. In Longville he was a member of the V.F.W. Post #772 and belonged to two snowmobile clubs, Longville and Leech Lake Riders. With the Leech Lake Riders he was on the board and was treasurer. Mr. Wachter lived in Longville, MN for 12 years and was previously from Lansing, IL. He is survived by wife, Rose; son, Kurt (Cathie); and sister, Marian Wulff. He was preceded in death by mother, Jennie; father, Samuel; wife, Eve; and brother, Bernard Hoekstra. He was born Sept. 28, 1925 in Chicago, the son of Samuel and Jennie, nee Notting, Wachter. He grew up and attended school in Chicago. After his schooling he joined the U.S. Navy, attaining the rank of Electrician 2nd Class. Following his military career he went to work for Illinois Bell as a lineman. Memorials preferred to the Alzheimer’s Assn. Visitation will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church on Thursday from 8 a.m. and on Saturday at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home, 11333 S. Central Ave., Oak Lawn, from 10 a.m. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000 at 11 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, Fr. Roland Antus and Fr. Tom Kishing of St. Edward Catholic Church will be officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Gardens South Cemetery. For info, call 708-636-1200.
