Elisabeth Young Winter, of Lake Forest, IL, widow of Richard Allen Winter, died in Antigua, Guatemala, a few hours before her 80th birthday, born in Casey, IL on October 10, 1920, she earned her private pilots license at age 16 and later was the first woman to fly for the Civil Air Patrol, she was subsequently hired by Eddie Rickenbacher for Eastern Airlines ticketing department and again was the first woman to work there. After her marriage to Dick and their adoption of two children she started an interior design business with her sister-in-law which she continued until her death. Her passion for travel, the arts and childrens charities was second only to her love and dedication to her family. She is survived by her children Barbara and Bill; her brother Sam, sister Marcia; her grandchildren Brooke, Charlie and Melissa; and her devoted neices and nephews. Her memorial celebration will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, on Wednesday, October 18, at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Home Hospice Fund, c/o the church.
