Eleanor Mayer Owen, died at home Oct. 12, 2000 following a long illness, Eleanor lived in Winnetka most of her life; after graduating from the University of Chicago, she was a social worker at her alma mater New Trier High School from 1961 to 1986, when she retired; Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents Milton and Ruth Levy Mayer, her sister Rae Virginia Mayer, and daughter Patricia; she is survived by her beloved son Michael. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2000 at Wm. H. Scott Funeral Home, 1100 Greenleaf Ave., Wilmette. Micheal will welcome visitors at home, following the service, until 4 p.m. and on Tuesday and Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial gifts to charitable organizations benefiting Native Americans.
