Earl A. Murphy, 92, of West Dundee, a former West Dundee village trustee, died Saturday, Oct. 14, in Sherman West Court in Elgin. Mr. Murphy worked as a buyer for men’s clothing at Wieboldt’s department store in Chicago from the 1930s to early 1950s. He moved to West Dundee in 1956 and worked as an office manager for Sun Ray Poultry, a chicken-processing plant in East Dundee. During the 1960s he was a founding member of the Tri-Cities Little League Baseball organization, and in 1969, he was elected village trustee. He served two terms. Before he retired in 1981, he went back into the retail industry and worked as a store manager at Murphy’s Clothing Store, West Dundee, which was owned by his son. In addition, he founded Club 70, a dance club for seniors who would meet once a month. “He was a beautiful dancer,” recalled his daughter in-law, Mary Kay. “He was like Fred Astaire.” Other survivors include a son, Michael: two daughters, Patricia Imhoff and Molly; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 847 W. Main St., West Dundee.
