Gregory V. Gerdes Jr., passed away October 15, 2000, beloved husband of Mary Beth; dear father of Kathryn (John) Tomei, Greg (Linda), Beth (Mark) Beranek, Paul (Michelle), William and John (Tarasa); fond grandfather of Todd and Kayla Fauria and Andrew Gerdes; devoted brother of Eugene (Marilyn) and Kenneth (Diane); uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was employed by the Chicago Tribune from 1955 to 1987 as a copy editor in the financial department. Member of the Sigma Delta Chi Fraternity of Journalists. Served on the School Board of St. Theresa Church School, he was on the Pastoral Council, taught CCD and was a Lector in the Church. Funeral Wednesday, 9:30 a.m. from Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Hwy., Palatine to St. Theresa Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Interment St. Michael Archangel Cemetery.
