Edmund Lechowicz, 67, a retired data processing manager and the brother of Cook County Commissioner Ted Lechowicz, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, of leukemia in University of Chicago Hospitals in Chicago.

A lifelong Chicagoan, Mr. Lechowicz served in an Army intelligence unit in Germany during the Korean War because he was fluent in Russian and Polish, said his brother.

“My brother was like a guardian angel to me. We were very close,” said his brother.

Other survivors include his wife, Delores, and his mother, Rose.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday in DeNicolo-Pietryka Funeral Home, 5734 W. Diversey Ave., Chicago.
