Many world travelers know the value and chumminess of hostels, and now everyone can take a peek into one of the nicest and newest hostels in the world when HI-Chicago throws open is doors in the south Loop, at 24 E. Congress Pkwy. Hostelling International-Chicago, the fourth largest hostel in the world with 400 beds, will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and feature building tours, travel workshops, music and world food. Special exhibits will include Gallery 37’s Suite Home Chicago bench and artifacts from the city’s 1999 New Year’s Eve millennium dinner–including icons, silk wall hangings, silver plates, books and dolls. 312-360-0300.
