Joseph Grenko, 65, of Des Plaines and formerly of Fox Lake, was grounds supervisor for College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, for the last 13 years. Mr. Grenko was previously golf course groundskeeper and supervisor of recreation areas at the Ramada Hotel Rosemont for five years and at the Marriott Lincolnshire for 10 years. Mr. Grenko, who was born in Rockford, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, in his home. Mr. Grenko served on a Navy submarine in the late 1950s. He was president of the Midwest Golf Association in the 1980s. “He was loved by everybody at College of Du Page,” said his wife of 10 years, June. “He was a warm and affectionate person. He loved animals and people. I didn’t know anyone who didn’t like him.” Other survivors include five daughters, Jan Weir, Sheri Gorbet, Debbie Brown, Susan Smart and Jodi; a sister, Eve Ernst; and eight grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, when a service will begin in Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Ave., Des Plaines.
