John A. “Bud” Doerrer, 83, of Stuart, FL, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000 at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, Miami, FL. Born in Chicago, he had been a resident of Stuart for 11 years. Prior to retirement he was an Investigator for the United States Postal Service for 26 years in Chicago, and was a member of the United States Postal Investigator’s Retiree’s Association. During World War II and the Korean Conflict he served in the United States Naval Seabee’s and was a member of Seabee’s Retiree’s Association. He was the Chief of Security for First National Bank/Visa Division in Chicago for 15 years. He was the founding member of International Association of Credit Card Investigators for Visa Bank Americard. Mr. Doerrer volunteered at Martin Memorial Hospital South in Stuart. He attended Peace Presbyterian Church in Stuart. Survivors include his wife, Ruth P. Doerrer of Stuart; his son, John A. Doerrer and his wife, Lolly of Chicago; stepson, David J. Nicol and his wife, Debra of Warsaw, IN; stepdaughter, Donna R. Moll and her husband, Joseph of Corea, ME; and six grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, 2 p.m. at Young & Prill Funeral Home in Stuart.
