– Canticle Place, 26W195 Roosevelt Rd., Suite 13, Wheaton, a 12-unit affordable housing complex for people living with AIDS, needs volunteers to transport residents to appointments, to serve on committees and to do housecleaning. 630-588-9165.
– Cornerstone Shelter for Boys, 1305 W. Oswego Rd., Naperville, provides shelter for boys between the ages of 13 and 17 who have been removed from their homes for various reasons and who are wards of the state. Volunteers are needed to do outdoor and indoor maintenance and to serve as mentors. Minimum age is 21. 630-962-2992.
– Downers Grove Park District Museum, 831 Maple Ave., Downers Grove, needs volunteers to care for artifacts, give tours, do research and help develop exhibits. Also need volunteers for removal of non-native vegetation and to plant small cuttings at Lyman Woods and Belmont Prairie. Minimum age is 16. 630-963-1309.
– DuPage Township, 241 Canterbury Lane, Bolingbrook, is responsible for general assistance, maintaining roads and operating youth and senior programs in the township. Volunteers are needed to help design the DuPage Township Web page. An application is required. No minimum age. 630-759-1317.
– Family Shelter Service, P.O. Box 3404, Glen Ellyn, needs volunteers to be hot-line counselors, children’s group facilitators, to be court advocate assistants and to work in the shelter. Volunteers in these capacities work with clients and are required to take 40 hours of training. Volunteers also are needed to process donations, to do clerical work or assist with programs and activities for young children. Minimum age is 18. 630-469-5652.

– Good Samaritan Hospital, 3815 Highland Ave., Downers Grove, needs volunteers for information area, gift and resale shops, delivering food trays to patients and working in the transitional care area. Minimum age is 14. 630-275-1181.
– Little Lambs Ministry, 380 S. Schmale Rd., Carol Stream, an organization dedicated to aiding abandoned and orphaned children in Ukraine, needs volunteers to collect clothing and other goods and to pack and ship these items to Ukraine. Also needs volunteers to travel to Ukraine to work for four weeks during the summer at orphanages. Deadline for anyone interested in working at orphanages in the summer of 2001 is March 15.
